Grandfather Mountain

Last weekend Roy and I decided to go on an over-night trip to Grandfather Mountain. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it's a really old mountain sitting right on the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We drove up Friday night, slept at the hotel and had a fun day hiking, seeing animals and hanging out together. It reminded me why I love hiking so much. I know that may come as a shock, but as long as I don't have to sleep out in the wilderness than I'm fine with spending a day outdoors enjoying the fresh air. Evy seemed to love it too. We had to keep telling her to slow down because she would get way ahead of us. The rocks we were hiking were about the size of Audrey so she required a little extra help. And let's just be honest, I'm not as fast as I was 6 months ago, thanks baby :).

Roy was Audrey's helper since I was focused on my footing. I didn't think it would be a good idea if I took a spill. Roy and Audrey had a blast. At one point Roy kind of lost his footing and he was trying to get his balance. Audrey then put her hands out and said, "Dad, I got you!" Roy started cracking up that his 2 year old daughter has "got him". I don't think she could be any cuter.

All in all, it was a fun weekend and I'm glad we did it. We seriously came up with the idea laying in bed Friday morning (so unlike us :)). Evy and Audrey keep asking when we can go back to the Mountains. Roy and I said we had to wait for the baby to be born but after he comes we'll throw him in a back pack and head back up!
